Could we see a vid on the new Nike covert whenever it becomes available?
Hello Mark, when you get the new “super-adjustable” TaylorMade woods for a review, can you measure their TRUE lofts? There’s a guy on a U.S. site reckons the driver (supposed to be 8.5 to 12.5 degrees) is actually 16.5 to 17.5 That’s really a 4 to 5 wood with a huge head & a long shaft !! Are they shafting us ?
Hi mark having the same problem with a out to in swing had a lesson and was told to ‘re connect’ the right elbow to my body at the start of my downsing by putting my elbow closer to my body it automatically gave the club the ‘laying off’ look and after some hard work on the range made my striking improve and gave me more of a compact swing hope this helps!!!
Hey Mark… good video! I’d really love it if you could describe the idea behind Jim Furyk’s tendency given his swing pattern. It’s unorthodox, but yet seems to work well for him.
DenisBaStAcHe, it’s the slot swing theory! See Jim McLean videos
Great Video Mark! I really like the example of old and new pros. It proves that the old ideas are always the best.
Since when was hitting a fade a fault, just one way of swinging the club, the purists may disagree but its the preferred shot for most people when trying to land one soft. More than one way to do it, I suppose it’s all about controlling the shot fade or draw. Liking the videos.
The penny dropped after watching this vid. I just applied this to a recent video of my swing and sure enough I was doing everything you had trouble trying to do. I’m hitting the driving range first thing tomorrow to starting correcting it. Cheers!
Mark, once I get to the top of the back swing, if the first move I make is distributing my weight to my front heel and keep my upper body in full backswing rotation, I notice on video that my club plan naturally drops slightly below my hand plan. If this proper technic?
My question is similar to Iceman’s below. Funny thinb Mark, is when you were trying to make the incorrect upright downswingt–you were saying how hard it was? It’s EASY for me! I have a bunch of video of myself making that move! Seriously though, that’s why I’m loving this video. It’s a move I’ve tried so hard to get rid of but didn’t know how. This video seems like its custom for me. But like Iceman asks: Does the weight shift and hip turn a big part of getting the hands to drop?
I think Marks lessons in general are great.Very helpful…really helped my game. This one however to complex for me.You can get to technical which can lead to paralysis through analysis….beware
…because I feel like if I simply concentrate on lowering my shaft angle WITHOUT first shifting my weight and turning my hips, I end up hitting FAT.
Hi Mark. Check out this video the PGA Tour posted. ——- “Top 10 clutch hole outs for victory on the PGA TOUR”.——— Look at Craig Perry’s swing at the 4:15 mark. He definitely has a unique looking swing and made it work, but it looks like his club plane gets steeper than his hand plane. Any thoughts on it?
Another great video Mark. Thelceman is right isn’t he Mark? . When I start the downswing before completing the backswing, I tend to come ove the top. What I noticed is that when I pause at the top of the backswing ( ever so slightly) the weight of the club causes the shaft to fall flat. Then I start my downswing by turning my lower body as you suggest and my arms drop automatically. I’M still working on getting this right, but I’ve noticed that slower is better..
It’s important to start the downswing after completing the backswing. At the completion of the backswing, the weight of the club flattens the shaft, leading to a flatter shaft plane like Mark mentions. If you start the downswing before your hands come to a full stop in the backswing then you are working against gravity and you’ll tend to hit out to in or at a steep angle. Is that right, Mark?
Thanks Mark for all your hard work! I’ve been studying your videos for several months now. The way you describe things is by far the best I have seen on-line. This video is a great example of that – quite a technical little issue, but one that could be tremendously useful for helping cure the out-to-in swing (which I suffer from). Anything you post about the hands really helps me. Please keep up the good work and don’t worry about posting ‘difficult’ issues.
Hi Mark – great video! Thanks for all the videos you’ve posted. Flattening the club path like you talk about is something I’ve been working on for a while with little success. Can you explain a little further how you are flattening it? Is it your wrists that are moving? Could you possible show the drill again but from a different angle? It’s hard to see what you’re doing. Thanks again for all the effort you put into these videos!
Oh, poor buddy, has a hard time hitting it over the top lol
Thanks for the great tips

Mark, how do you fix a club path that’s to much from the inside I’ve tried getting the feeling of Going low and right (lefty) after impact, but can only get it straight if I try and cut across it which is obviously not i want to do, any help?
This video is confusing.
I like to feel my weight is on the inside of my feet at address. it helps me feel attached to the ground, centered, and balanced. Also, my weight shifts on the backswing and downswing feel easier to control. I’m not getting outside my plan by pushing off my feet, instead it is a rolling movement or weight shift.
Hi Mark, So the hand plane should remain the same? I worked with something similar to this last week with an instructor and now I’m hitting big hooks. I went from my miss being a slight block, to left going way left. It all started from going outside on the takeaway. I still brought the club down great, but the club was somewhat shut. He has me coming back inside a bit, and it’s causing me to drop down way inside on the downswing. I haven’t found the happy medium. Thanks for the great videos!
